The Certified Service Management Professional (CSMP) designation represents the pinnacle of achievement in service management. This credential provides practical advice on how to establish an effective approach to the design, development, implementation and ongoing operation of a customer centric and value focused service management strategy.

HIGHLITES

Duration: five days.

Audience: Service management professionals, both internal to a service provider and external consulting to the same, responsible for the design, development, deployment and operations management of a service management strategy.

Scope: The service management framework, enterprise, business and service models, 15-stage service lifecycle, nine supporting lifecycles, service governance framework, and an overview of the seven knowledge domains and thirty-eight knowledge areas.

Examination: Four-hour, multiple-choice.

Prerequisites: None.

The class is practical and ideal for anyone who is responsible for a service management strategy, including those professionals who may offer consulting and education services to service provider organizations.

The CSMP has been developed to the stringent standards-based criteria as required by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).


Lesson Plan

The class may be delivered under license by any person authorized through the Registered Education Provider (REP) program managed by the Service Management Institute. The content of the class includes:

  • Principles of Service Management
  • Elements of a Successful Service Model, including the governance framework, service planning process, fulfillment plan, service portfolio, service catalog, the service lifecycle, and a detailed exploration of each of the 15 lifecycle stages
  • The nine supporting lifecycles, including the requirement, event, request, support and quality lifecycles
  • Key roles and competencies
  • How to apply test-taking strategies and techniques designed to improve performance on the CSMP exam
